About this role:

As a Funeral Director at Glendale Funeral Home and Cemetery operated by Arbor Memorial Inc. you will have the opportunity to provide meaningful support to families on their end-of-life journey by overseeing and directing all aspects of funeral services, including: filing death certificates, maintaining online obituary listings, performing decedent embalming and providing assistance during the execution of funeral services.

Proudly serving Etobicoke, Ontario and the surrounding area since 1952, Glendale Funeral Home & Cemetery boasts a 62-acre site, home to a sparkling pond and local wildlife, dotted with mature trees, benches and colourful flower gardens, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere for friends and family to gather and reminisce. Built in 2011, our convenient, on-site Funeral Home includes chapel seating, a lounge for private, intimate gatherings, spacious visitation rooms and a Reception room with full kitchen facilities and patio. Salary: The wage range for the Funeral Director will between $57,000 and $65,000 per year, based on work experience and qualifications.

 Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 For the Funeral Director role, the main job duties and responsibilities are as follows:

 Arranges, coordinates and directs funeral ceremonies.

  • Decedent Care and Embalming.
  • Arranges the transfer of decedent to the funeral home or crematorium as required.
  • Meets and surpasses the needs and expectations of the families we serve.
  • Maintains active involvement within the community and is committed to building and establishing effective relationships and rapport.
  • Supports the Funeral Service Department’s vision of technology integration by understanding the role technology plays in the funeral home’s success.

Qualifications:

  • Possesses a Class 1 Funeral Director’s license in Ontario or ability to obtain one within three months of employment.
  • Completed an accredited Funeral Director post-secondary program or its equivalent.
  • Minimum two years of experience as a licensed Funeral Director.
  • Displays proven, superior arrangement, directing and embalming skills.
  • Passion for customer care demonstrated in previous professional experiences.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and consistently high level of accuracy.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills with the ability to partner will all levels of the organization.
  • Strong knowledge of Funeral Home procedures and business practices including Funeral Home Procedures Manuals.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
